Drag Radials vs. DOT slicks - 11/12/14 03:24 AM

hi do any of you guys know what would be the best drag radial tires. How wide can get them, and what is the traction compared to a DOT bias-ply tire.

Yes the M/T are awesome. Insanely good compared to any "normal" tire. Guys are running 6 seconds on em or even faster lol.

I have ran both types of M/T ET Street tires, Radials and bias ply of the same size on the street and at the strip. The bias plys work better on marginal surfaces like most streets, the radials are faster on a good track If you don't mind having the radials spin on the street, mine have gone sideways at 65 MPH passing a car on the street then go for them, if not stick with the bias plys

69 charger 526" 4.10dana auto w\3500 & T-brake..it's heavy 3900+, it sure is a blast to drive on the street. But, Im looking for more traction.
Also, how can I get rid of some weight and keep it a street car?
Thanks for your time!

M/t drag radials here too i don't run them on the street though they're just to damn sticky and pick up everything on the road..but they hook great at the track...

I have ET Street radials, and don't like to run them on the street too much. As said above, they pick up every small pebble you run over and throw them at your car. Also, If you're looking for street traction, I find that when they're inflated to street psi levels, they don't hook much better than a standard radial. But get them down around 20 psi, so they have some flex, and they work great.

WOW --- This is a loaded question for my two penny's I and my son both run radial drag slick's (Hoosier on his M/T on mine) on our NHRA Stocker's as well as every other guy in Stock Eliminator unless it is a Stick car then some of the guy's run Bias Slick's - on my Pro Street Car I have M/T Radial DOT Slicks and they work well but there are a lot of question's you should answer before making a purchase as they are not cheap - Just my two cent's

how do those street radials pass an inspection for a street car?? that's why I've been leaning towards the sportsman s/r series but the size I need is $100 more per tire!

Just go with Hoosier QTP's they are great street/
strip tires and DOT approved. Many sizes.

same question, how can they pass inspection? DOT approved does not mean legal for street use. not all of us use 'antique' plates that exempt from inspection.

I use Hoosier radial slicks 30 x 9 and I drive on the street with them also. I have been driving on the street with them for almost 4 years and they hook good for me at the track. My suspension is just SS springs. Ron

By the way the Hoosier Quick Time Pro tires are a bias tire. Ron
