Holley Carb question with video - 11/03/14 01:21 AM

Pulled the Dart out of hibrenation today and it was running really rich. Took a look down the 650 Holley and saw this. This isn't right, is it? What do I need to do?

Nope, you've got a sticky needle valve...try rapping on the bowl.

And if tippy-tapping on the rear bowl doesn't work?

I'm not clear on where the needle and seat is on this carb. If I pull the carb and rear bowl will it be self explanatory? Is that the correct next step?

Looks like the secondaries are stuck open a hair, causing fuel to be pulled in to engine.

Yep, it's very obvious where it is. Looks like a center pivot float so the needle and seat are just below the adjusting screw in the middle of the bowl. Also the float may have developed a leak and is sunk keeping the needle open.

Get yourself a copy of Mike Urich's little book on Holley 4150/60 carburetors, new or used. It's got good pictures and diagrams, and is pretty easy to read.

What you are seeing is the result of too high a fuel level in the secondary fuel bowl. The answer others have given a likely reason as to why it is overfilling. The book will help this all make sense.
