E Body/B Body K Frames

E Body/B Body K Frames - 10/28/14 05:01 PM

I can't remember if the 70 b & e body k-frames interchange. I know that the part numbers are different but that doesn't always mean they are different or interchange. Picked one up, 70 e-body, at the Fall Fling to have on reserve for down the road repairs. I know 71- is different because of the steering box mount angle. Would like one on hand to replace my 70 b-body when needed. Thoughts anyone?

I swap a 1968 Hemi Roadrunner drive train into a 1969 440 GTX and then again into a 1970 RT Challenger after wrecking the GTX off a trailer going to the races. No real problems that I can remember, I later bought a 1970 Baracuda that had the same swap, 383 car with a 1968 Hemi K member and motor swapped into it

Like Cab Barge posted it can be done but I think the steering gear box geometry is a couple of degrees different on the angles from an B Body to an E Body but it still works.

Like was said there's a slight steering box angle difference. 70-74 E-body is the same as 71-72 B-body.

70 B-body is truly a one year only K-member. It's got the 66-70 B-body steering box angle and the 70-72 short through the K-member sway bar cutouts. Those two features only intersect in on year: 1970 B-body.
