Oil pressure and temp gauges still working? Could be a loose wire, bad gauge, bad voltage limiter, bad sending unit. You need to do some simple diagnosing.

If temp gauge is still working, then that rules out the voltage limiter.
If you can disconnect the sender wire from the sender, pull it up into the trunk and ground it with the ignition on. If the gauge begins to climb, that means the wire & gauge are still working.
Double check the ground strap for the sender. IIRC, these are just a metal strip that clips onto the metal fuel line coming out of the tank and clipping onto the line on the frame rail. Often, these rust away.
If that is still in good condition, then the only thing it could be would be the sender itself has pooped the bed. Usually the only repair is to replace.

Not True. If the float is heavy with gas then just it needs to be replaced. Had 2 gas gauges die and it was the float, not the sender . The replacement floats come in brass and plastic.

(4) the short metal bracket with clips on each end that (electrically) connects the sender hard line nipple to the fuel line hard metal & as said twist both ends back & forth several times at the same time to check/restore continuity to that piece. (5) with your VOM see how many ohms there is between the sender threaded nipple and the flat round sender base & how much gas is in the tank which will affect that reading. Holler when you can

I have seen the thin ground between the gas tank and the steel line rust through then the gauge stops working, check that first.
