widow seat belt

widow seat belt - 10/12/14 05:39 PM

I'm thinking of using a seatbelt to hold up my window in my 68 Barracuda race car. Where does the seat belt attach on the window, and more important where does it attach to the door?

Pics would be great.

Widows don't need seat belts. They ride in boxes or jars! LOL

I pop riveted one end to the bottom of my window frame (all regulator parts gutted obviously). The belt was long enough to reach to the bottom of the door when window was up. I used a convertible boot snap on the belt and bottom of the door. Pull and snap to hold up (closed), unsnap and lower to open (all reachable while strapped in). All made with junk I had laying around.

Thanks for the help. I have some seat belts lying around, just need to find one the right length. I wanted to leave the regulators in, but the cage/bar runs right down where the crank arm is not leaving a lot of clearance. It gets so damn hot in there that I really want an operating window.

I should add mine were Lexan. Heat didn't bother me as much as trying to get my slip at the booth - that's where it paid for itself. You could always put a power window assembly in the driver's door.

Mine was lexon as well. You're right about the ticket, but the actual reason why I want to go back to glass is because I hate the look on the windows of the lexan. Never cleaned well, and because I bought it second hand done with it, the scratches and crab had already built up. Plus I like the trim around the windshield and rear window. Yea, I gain some weight, but a tenth or two I really could care less about if I can be happy with the look.
