Help me ID this AM/FM Thumbwheel Radio - 08/05/14 05:32 AM

I bought this AM/FM radio for my 1969 Road Runner and even though it looks right it's not quite right.

So the question is...what is it right for?

Says Model 375 on the side. I googled it and there was some reference to an A-body.

Anyone know for sure?

Thanks

The second one looks like A body.I have an AM/FM that looks similar and even has the same black knobs.Pulled it to put in the Dart when we had it.Rocky

Thanks I was looking around the Internet and it looks like it is a 1971 to 76 a body radio.

Dave not sure exactly what the AM/FM is but you can just swap the front chrome piece and it'll bolt right into the RR . I have done that with a couple of AM/FM's i've had over the years , I buy any AM I find for cheap with decent chrome and working thumbwheel for the tuner for parts .

Where is the mounting stud Dave.
B-body mounting stud should be on the rear, and A-body stud would be on the bottom.
Looks like the station numbers are on the black metal behind the lens, and not on the lens itself so that part is good....but I'll wait for the expert to chime in.

The rear mounting stud is on the back like the b-body am radios I have.
I didn't notice anything wrong until the radio faceplate didn't fit that well.

What do you mean "the radio faceplate" ? The plastic plate that screws to the dash frame ?

IIRC, '70 "A" body rallye had thumb wheel radios '71 and up where knob style, standard and rallye dash.
Check with others smarter than me.

Well the AM FM in question is a 1967 C body model 375.
It is now a hodge podge of A B and C body radio parts thrown together in an attempt to pass it off as something it is not AKA a "Frankenstien" radio.
It now has 68-9 B body push buttons and a 68-9 Dart Chrome bezel and Dart/ Barracuda lense and the dial plate is 1968 B body . Model 375 radios are generally pretty cheap so taking a non working $ 800 B or A body radio and grafting the front cosmetics onto a working $ 250 C body radio is a pretty common trick .
The second radio pictured is a 70-71 A body AM .

Not exactly the answer I was hoping for. Thanks for the help though. I appreciate it.

Well I might as well try and get this one into my Road Runner. Can I use the chrome bezel from a b-body am radio?

Dave: Why didn't you buy the real B-body 69 AM/FM that I had on my table...sold it Saturday.
Never saw you in the swap area and other years I couldn't keep you away and out of my cooler.
I heard because of the gathering of A12 cars, you and Scott considered yourselves curators of building Y, and spent all your time there.

Ha I bought the radio here on Moparts over the winter. I got it with a few other parts. My mistake for sure. Hopefully I can still make it work. It's just a driver anyway. Makes for a good story now.

Every year your spot is busier and busier. I heard you were all out of beer early. Next year bring a bigger cooler and more beer.

Thanks to everyone for their help.
