Shorty water pump for 440?

Does anyone make a short water pump for a big block?

Trying to get some clearance on a very tight build. We won't be using the stock fan, or anything like that. Still running an alternator though.

Thanks!

Not to my knowledge but you can press the "cross" rearward a bit (support the shaft on the back side if you ever do this) but the limiting factor is the clearance between the pulley groove to the pump 4 bolts & you'd need a shallower pulley and a pulley with a straight barrel rather than a tapered barrell may help with the clearance inside the barrel (been a long time since I dealt with that) but I remember an issue there. Easier might be to mill the pump housing rear face to move the whole shebang rearward then reestablish pulley alignment. there is a part number for a short fan extension (jaguar?) that has been used by us. EDIT now I remember, a non tapered pulley barrel did not touch the pump body shank

You can use button head allens to hold the pump to body.March pulleys use them.I had a set from when we installed the Marchs on our BBs.But they are hidden somewhere.Small parts always hide in one of my garages.Rocky

Rock is dead on on that & they are significantly flatter than a regular hex bolt head & you gain a lot of clearance there. You might come out of this OK with them and pressing the cross and the right depth pulley (I have tons of em/holler when the time comes & I'll set ya up for cheap). As you know definitely mockup/measure before you do anything & go from there
