70 barracuda grill

70 barracuda grill - 07/06/14 01:21 AM

I'm in the market for replacement grill for my 70 barracuda

In my search I've found a couple of companies that make them now.... Goodmark, OER, etc.... The prices range from over $900 to around $600....not including the turn signals etc etc...

Any feedback on the different companies to justify getting the more expensive ones?.... Better quality to justify the extra $$??

I'm not doing a concourse restoration... I just want a decent grill....

I can't tell you about the Goodmark or other cheaper brands. I have been collecting 70 Cuda grills for a long time. I could have sold some for over $2000 before the repops came out. I bought several of the ones from Mike Ross at B E and A. They are a work of art and worth the extra $$. You will know what I mean when you open the box. Mikes grills are top notch. Save money elsewhere in your project but buy a grill from Mike.

Didn't Mike sell out his inventory and say that he wasn't going to do another run because they took so long to sell?

I think he still has a few and they are awesome.

So I bought mine from Classic Industries but I do not know the brand. They look great but I agree with the comments about the fit as they just don't quite fit as snug as the originals. Perhaps with a knife and a cutting wheel I could remove enough stock to make them fit more flush with the front fenders.

For a driver, the ones from Classic Industries are really nice but if the car was for show I think I might try to find some restored originals.

If you look at the far left and far right of this photo you can tell that the headlight covers don't sit as deep as the rest of the grill and so it looks like the grill curves out on the edges as more chrome extends from the car.

With some work, I could probably make this better but I just haven't put any time into it.

And don't forget the blackout paint behind the grille before you install it...

Blackout for every paint color? I thought they only did that on yellow and white E-Body's.

Shows how much I know!

It's not his "own special" piece the other vendors will buy it and mark it up... Seriously though he was running a special on those a while back so it would be in your best interest to give Mike a call and talk to him... Remember Carlisle is just a few days away and he might have some busy days coming up...

I would definitely give Mike at BE&A a call. He has an incredible amount of experience and expertise on E-Body grills (among other things) and can help you with grill selection, fit, etc.

I have quite a few of his parts on my Cuda and I have zero complaints.

Hey, on a side note I may have not been fair about my grill from Classic Industries. I started looking around in my books and online and I can't find any photos that show a flush grill on a 70 Cuda. I have no doubt that there are some out there but all the photos I have found show that same bevel.
