Carb sitting for 3 years how much maintenance needed? - 06/14/14 11:06 PM

I have a Holley Street Avenger, 670 CFM, on my Charger. The car has been in storage for 3 years. I'm getting the car ready to drive again. I'm going to flush the entire fuel system. My question concerns how far to go into the carb.I was thinking removing the bowls and jets and cleaning everything out with carb cleaner and reassembling with new gaskets.I don't think the entire carb needs to come apart and soak in solvent. The car ran good when I put in storage, no leaks or anything like that. Your thoughts?

My cars seem to sit all the time. Maybe only get driven once or twice a year. I never have problems once the old gas is driven out. You'll probably be fine with flushing the system.

Did you drain it before storage???

Fuel stabilizer added???

We got ethanol issues in these parts...

Pretty well-documented that this squat they call 'pump gas' begins to degrade in 30 days...

Know some guys who go through their carbs every year after they come out of storage...

Once you get into it a little, you'll see what's necessary...

No, I did not add any fuel stabilizer and I did not drain the tank before storage.
