Removing paint from a console

I have an E body console that was dyed at one time from tan to black, it needs to be redone, what is the best way to remove the old paint?

If it's paint and not stain, try some 'easy off' oven cleaner in an inconspicuous spot to make sure it doesn't melt the plastic. Methyl hydrate is also a good paint remover.
