Can you identify this hurst shifter? - 12/31/08 03:52 AM

I was told this came out of a dart but it doesn't look right to me. Anyone ever seen this shifter before?

Thanks,

Steve

Not sure but looks like a three speed shifter

All 3 speeds I've ever saw were bolted on top like an inland.

Looks like an a-body bench seat shifter.

Like 67-72 or so.

Not enough of a forward bend in the handle, IMO, for it to be an A body shifter, and those shift rod adjusters don't look like OE Mopar either; none that I've ever seen. Here's an OE Hurst O/D A body shifter - note the adjusters on the rods...

There wil be a 4 digit number stamped into the side of one of the shifter rod fingers near where the rod goes through it, what number is it?

Looks like an old Hurst 3 speed Mystery Shifter. An aftermarket replcement for the 3 on the tree.

I can't find any numbers on the rod lever fingers. Does that mean is some type of aftermarket shifter? There is a serial number on the shifter mechanism - 0070332A.

I don't think its a three speed because it has 3 levers. I thought 2 speed only had 2.

Thanks for the help,

Steve

I do not rememeber a 3-speed with 3 rods connected....usually only 2 rods...1st and reverse and the 2nd rod...2nd to 3rd. Just my $.02 worth

Its a GM shifter.

I was hoping it was for a 69 dart.

Here is one just like it on ebay:
