tranny vibration after rebuild

tranny vibration after rebuild - 04/23/14 01:28 AM

I just went through my basic overhaul of my 727, and when I got it back together, I have a vibration around 3500 rpm. It will vibrate in neutral and in gear, so I suspect the converter is out of balance for some reason. The converter is the same one that was in it before, and there wasn't a vibration before the rebuild.
Has anyone ever seen this before?

not unless a weight fell off the TC. Not sure what could have moved/shifted. I'd wait for Kunkel to advise...

I just had that last fall after a local shop rebuilt the 727 in my '67.

The second I drove it I knew something was not right. It wasn't a BAD vibration, but it definitely wasn't right. Did a U-turn right back to the shop and the mechanic who rebuilt my tranny hopped in for a ride and agreed.

They confirmed TC was improperly balanced. It was defective from their supplier. The shop said that simply happens once in a while and replaced it at no added cost.

Good luck,
