overheating hemi??? - 04/12/14 10:35 PM
I have a 2005 dodge magnum r/t 5.7l hemi that is overheating. I verified today that my thermostat is good with the boiling water test, what should i test next and how?
Quote:with it overheating that fast k.i.s.s. confirm that the fans are operating. Pull the stat & check it (Murphys law/coincidences happen)
they topped off the coolant and now i can't go five miles without it overheating.

Quote:yes
I hate to ask but I have to. Do you mean the radiator fans?

I never saw it running anytime I have been under the hood. Is there a way to check this?

Turns out it was the fans. I have been so hung up on what seemed like a lack of fluid circulation. Cost me $200 for a new set and problem solved. The thing I don't understand is why this all occurred after I had the coolant topped off.
Quote:one of the jockeys may have jostled the fans or might just be Murphys law. An non mechanic acquaintance ran into this recently when he has something done & they hooked the fan wiring up backwards, evidently they are polarity sensitive & it was pushing or pulling the air the wrong way
