Need some feedback as to where to place the shift switch
with the GV install in a 69 Charger w 4 speed. Where did you
put your switch & any tips on how to shift when racing?
Thanks in advance..

I made a switch that looks like a trigger on the pistol grip.
Racing I shift from first to second, then second overdrive and then third overdrive.

How did you run the wire on your shifter? We don't want to cut a groove
in the stock shifter & a wire taped to it isn't what we want, either.
The floor dimmer type switch that comes with the GV might be way to go
but a button right next to your finger is probably the best. How do you
shift the GV down the 1/4 mile? Do you think it helps times by keeping
you in the power band like GV says?

You can see the wire in the picture running down the back of the shifter, it's held on with a narrow strip of double sided tape. No one notices it.
The GV gives you one fast shift on the strip, I use it going from second to second over, it probably does help the times.
I use the car on the street a lot and tend to dip the clutch when I switch the overdrive in because its very harsh if you don't. I don't use the clutch if I have my foot to the boards and the revs are up. A floor switch would make it difficult to dip the clutch.

It is really hard to see the wire on your shifter. The 69 shifter is
round & wire might be more easily seen than on yours with the flat
bottom. But still is probably the best option. You say it shifts hard
from the top of each gear, but is it enough to put undue stress on
the trans?

I guess it would be difficult to hide the wire on a round bar type shifter but it's the best place for the switch.
It's an 18 spline 4 speed and I took a few teeth off the cluster gear a few years ago and had to fit a new one. Not sure whether the OD caused the damage or not, it happened on the street changing down.

That's something I'll ask the techs at GV about. I know a lot of
people have them & swear by them, but this shifting hard enough to
break a gear is a serious issue. What kind of torque & HP is your
motor making?

The motor was never dyno'd but my best time on the strip is in my sig and should give you some idea.
