Transgo Shift kit question (SK TF SC)

Transgo Shift kit question (SK TF SC) - 03/19/14 12:39 AM

Hey guys,, if any of you have installed the transgo auto trans
shift kits SKTFSC or TF1 or TF2. a couple of quick questions...

1) Did you have to make any fuel/ignition timing changes after
installing the shift kit?

I'm noticing a hesitation from a fully stopped position with light
or medium throttle pressure it bogs down/ hesitates.
I never had that before..

Some times when I snap the accelerator I get a backfire through the
carb...

Again never had this problem before the shift kit...

2) Did any of you notice a sort of double hit when shifting from 1st
to 2nd? it's kind of strange actually, the car feels like its
shifting from 1-2 twice... the first one is kind of weak the next on
is firm....and no it's separate from the 2-3 shift.

I'm quite sure I followed every instruction provided with the kit....
but obviously I'm DIY so I'm the only one to blame

Anybody have any experience with this?
Any help would be appreciated!

The only thing that has changed is the shift kit...
but I also added a 2qt deep aluminum oil pan and 2 more qts of auto trans fluid if that matters....

Thanks for the ad....

i've used a tf1 and tf2 and never experienced any issues needing a tuning change. the tf2 will need a throttle pressure change, or at least the one i did needed a change.

The instructions did include a section on throttle pressure change.
FWIW, I made that per the instructions and verified it on the car.

regarding (1) there's something unrelated (to the trans) going on. something got bumped/changed or just a coincidence that it happened right when you added the shift kit

Is the "double hit" on the 1-2 shift in Drive or only when shifting 1-2 manually?

Thank you for replying, it only occurs in drive.
If I start in 1st...accelerate and manually shift to 2nd it works
great... manual 2nd to drive also shifts great....

Another couple of questions (if anyone knows)

The instructions say to use a file a notch the manual valve opening.
What exactly does this do?

And what does the new manual valve do vs. the old one?

if anyone knows please chime in thanks!

Thanks for the input, ythere was no depth specified in the
instructions only a picture of what it should look like which I
duplicated as best I could tell...

What is the purpose of the notch?

The notch is a fairly recent addition to the instructions, the previous instructions for the modified manual valve didn't call for the notch and those seem to work OK.

I haven't a clue what the notch does.
