slant six -> small block

slant six -> small block - 03/02/14 01:03 AM

I have a '67 Belvedere 2-dr sedan with a 225/3-spd. I've been toying with the idea of swapping in a 360/727 out of my '74 Duster. I have a V8 K-member; which brackets/mounts do I need (are all SB brackets/mounts the same)? Also, what about the transmission mount? I guess those are my two main questions. Any other tips would be great. Thanks!

Instead of a K-frame replacement could you use the engine mounts swap instead?

I didn't realize they were available for my car. Could you provide a link?

No a 6 needs a v 8 k member to convert

Doesn't Schumacher make conversion mounts?

You can also use a truck bracket on one side. With the /6 K frame.

I forgot all about that . Several guys have said that worked for them. Sure beats changing the K

Re: slant six -> small block - 03/02/14 05:29 PM

I did the /6 to 318 swap in my '70 Duster using the original /6 k member with a mid - '70's truck 318 bracket on the passenger side.

The driver's side used a regular A body '67-72 318 bracket.

This setup took mid - 70's 440 truck rubber isolators to get everything to line up correctly. They are thicker than the A body isolators and the offset for the mounting studs was correct. The A body isolators would not work due to the stud offset not lining up with the holes in the brackets and k member. Luckily I had a set of truck isolators in my pile of spare junk, and they worked perfect.

Everything fit like a glove.

Don't know if this would work on your B body?

I suppose SHOUTING would really get your point across eh? Ohh...and the louder you get the more likely you are RIGHT...

Look, I'm sorry I'm not an expert on ALL Mopar body styles...the OP asked for a link, so there went my reply...in the meantime though, do you have anything positive to contribute to this discussion?

Unless I missed it, I haven't actually seen a reasonable contribution here from you in terms of an actual 'working' fix...feel free to SHOUT it out anytime now...

Comprehension isn't your forte is it?

Go back and read the postings, specifically mine and you will see that your link was useless as others, including myself, posted that there was not a swap kit for this setup and that we looked for the OP. More useful than your posts in this thread to date.

It's the motor mount bracket that bolts to the side of the engine. The rubber motor mount (isolator/biscuit) bolts to it and then to the k member.

Thanks for the tip on the truck bracket, guys...I'll look into that. Otherwise, like I said, I do have a V8 K-member.

Anyone know about the trans mount?

You should be able to use the one in the car.

Re: slant six -> small block - 03/03/14 07:15 PM

I've got a 1966 Dodge Coronet Deluxe six cylinder car, I found a V8 K member for the car from the saem year, I am looking for a 1968 or newer V8 K member so I can use the better 1968 and later idler arm instead of the early single bolt, stud one with no capture on the top to prevent the idler arm from flexing OP, changing the K member is not that hard, really
