Do i need primer ? - 02/26/14 05:54 AM

I have a fiberglass Leer topper on my ram truck. Im doing a color change on the truck and need to paint the topper to match. Im going to use a single stage Acrylic Urethane paint on the topper. Do I need to prime it first , or can I just sand it down with 400 and shoot it ?

you need to seal it. not prime it. sealer will help the paint adhere and stop any bleedthru.

Make sure that there is NO wax traces left on it.

Yes seal it, most primers can be mixed to used as a sealer.

I would also recommend breaking the glaze with a fine scotch bright.
