72 B-body differential/housing - 01/27/14 09:53 AM

Hi I am trying to gather some info for my 1972 dodge charger. I have an. 8.25 rear end. I would like to go to an 8.75 differential but am not sure what number of cases/housings would fit or what years from makes and models etc.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated thanks!

Whats wrong with the 8.25? Its a pretty stout unit in its own right.

71/72 B body for sure

IIRC the 73/74 houseings had the large centering iso clamp system..

any 741/742 or 489 pumpkin will work..

Nothing really I am just thinking of putting a bigger gear ratio in it, and everyone talks about 8.75 and I am possibly running a stroker motor up front.

I would like to learn what my options are between the sizes of pumpkins etc.

No difference in the size of the pumpkins.. The difference is in the diameter of the pinion shafts. Look in the archives for more info.
