This Crower Cam anything worth using? M-300-H - 01/07/14 01:03 AM

Going thru stuff at the shop today and I found another old cam in an old Box. Its a Crower M-300-H and appears to be dirty but was protected somewhat with a greasy film. Is is something for the scrap pile? What engine would it be good for? 440??

Its for a Big Block mopar....should have said that..

There is a 300H in their current catalog but I would contact them. Crane emailed me a cam card by just a cam number

Years ago I ran an M-280-H in my 383. It was 280*duration on the intake and .484 lift. Hydrolic lifters. It had a real nice lope at idle and came on strong in the mid range. It worked great in my 68 Roadrunner with a 4spd. I would imagine your cam is more lift and obviously more duration. The old catalog I have has the replacement to the Monarch series and lists a 300H cam with 300* int. 310* exh. with 238* and 246* @.050. Lift is .530" int and .549" exh.
Hope this helps. Good luck.

Thanks for the info. I was having a hard time finding anything out about it.

That monarch is a good old school cam for a 440 dual plane 9.5:1 a little headwork and headers. Should be 108 LDA and I put it in +3 at 105.

Was replaced by the Crower HDP (hydraulic dual pattern-asymmetrical) series in the mid late 80's (IIRC) that were a little quicker off the ramp but really didn't make any more power. What you have is a good one in between a 484 and 509 purple shaft like the old 30306 Lunati but with a choppier (nastier sounding) idle and a bit higher rev potential than the 509, whatch your P/V clearence if you don't have valve reliefs.
