Hayden Trans Coolers & Which line is pressure & return - 12/18/13 08:11 PM

Ok I am Installing ( 2 ) trans coolers on my street/strip car both are Hayden trans coolers the larger one is 10 x 16 x 3/4 with a 9" electric fan mounted on it this one will be the bottom cooler in front of the Radiator the second one is 5 x 12 x 3/4 and it will sit on top off the bottom one. What I am asking is...

1. Which line is the pressure line coming off the trans I believe its the front one and the back one is the return if I am wrong please tell me.

2. Second should I run the pressure line in the bottom cooler first with the fan or run it to the very top cooler and let it run down and finish in the larger cooler with the fan then back to the transmission..

Thanks for any help.

yes front is pressure, why not just use one big cooler with the fan?stacking them is not good, the heat from one will just slow the cooling of the other if stacked.

Generally you run the hot fluid to the top so it gets cooled as it goes downward just like the radiator coolant does but it ain't a dealbreaker & especially with 2 coolers there will be some additional routing as you know to connect em up & in your case go with whichever way lets everything connect together the easiest/neatest. On a side note do check that you are getting adequate radiator airflow for adequate cooling at slower speeds in stop & go driving

Thanks for the advise i was thinking that two would cool even better but i understand what you are saying so i would be just as good with the bigger one with the fan... I do have a cooler that is about 1 1/2 think maybe a little bit more with very large tubes maybe i should you that one instead i just want the best cooling i can get for my trans to last longer & work better is all..:)
