440 in a 68 Dart adding an alternator - 11/09/13 05:48 AM

I have a 68 Dart with a 440 mounted with a motor plate and I want to put an alternator on it. Does anyone have any pictures of how they mounted the alternator to the front of the engine. Is there a kit that a company sells for this application. I have a miezere type water pump on the engine so I do not have a water pump pulley. It would only drive off the crank pulley.

Is it a street car or drag car? I have mounted an alternator off the rear end before. Also, you should be able to still use the stock alternator mounts, but you either have to mill the water pump housing down to have the pulley's the same location as stock, or press the alternator pulley on at the location of the crank pulley and find a belt that will work.

it's a track car but maybe drive it on the street to a burger stand for a cruise night or car show but not that often.

Use factory brackets and put a spacer the thickness of motor plate behind the crank pulley. Just run a belt from the crank to the alt.

I've sold a kit for that application for a number of years. Mancini Racing and Hughes Engines should have it on hand.
