whats the good clearance on a 440 stroker from crank/rod to block.thanks,mike

.030" is plenty as there is no real material growth there as opposed to the piston/rod on the other end (& .040" quench works on that far end)

In my 440/493, the only areas that needed clearancing were at the bottoms of the bores and at the oil pump/pickup boss. I went a little overboard and ended up with about 1/8" of room. Thats .125 in decimal terms.

I used a coat hanger to check clearance ... so about 1/8".

I agree on both I make my owned crankshaft scrapers out of .030 or thcker alumimun to help reduce crankcase windage, it helps keep oil in the pan and frees up some HP above 5000 RPM. I shoot for .030 to .045 cold clearances on the rotating parts for them
