I would say yes...The mopars from that era should have the mercury switch it was quick and simple to add on the assembly line...The shape and/or size of the unit, bulb and/or connectors might vary...Check out this auction for the 74 monaco trunk light...The unit looks pretty close at a quick glance except for the harness connector.. LINK

Here's a pic of the E body piece submitted in a previous post..In the E-bodie's case this harness acts as a jumper...Unplug the already present harness connection near the left trunk hinge and plug in the AO1 trunk light...

Those harness connectors are used at other locations on the E-body so you could make one up if you had the bulb/switch and some spare parts around for the task..

Older B bodies (70 and back) and A bodies had a regular contact switch that was on a welded on tab on the left side of the trunk. The 71 up B bodies and E bodies had the same set up , I'm sure.

Yup they sure did. The never fail mercury switch. I would have myserious dead batteries from time to time. Did not figure it was the stuipd mercury switch turning on the light when I was parked facing down hill on some of these San Francisco Hills. I only figured it out when I had the well liner removed from one of my Convertibles. LOL. That's when I removed the trunk bulbs from all of my cars. The utility was not worth having to avoid parking in certain sides of the streets.

Question is if you want originality vs functionality. Dakota's have a mercury switch hood light that could be mounted and work, and easy to find, but would be '1970s correct'.

Adding one would be fairly simple, supply a battery positive wire, the light should ground through itself to the chassis

They may not be "common" but they aren't ultra rare either. At least I don't think they are... I decided I wanted one for my challenger when I rewired three years ago, looked on ebay, and did buy it now for one up that day for 20 bucks or so.

Either I got a good deal or they are still out there.

The connector was already there on my tail light harness, plug and play.

Otherwise, if you aren't going for show judging points you can probably easily modify one from another model. if it doesn't have the same connector, Terminal Supply Company probably has one that will fit.

Truth be told I don't think mine even has a bulb in it at the moment. Left the trunk open for a car show and came back to a dead battery. At least there were plenty of car guys around to help with a jump off.
