Have the opportunity to get a complete 4 speed set up from a 66 Charger to put in my 70 Road Runner. Both are big block cars. The set up includes pedals, hump, transmission, fly wheel, z bar, shifting rods, bell housung, shifter, new clutch and adjusting rod.
Can anyone tell me will these parts from a 66 Charger swap into a 70 Road Runner? Will the transmission mount from my automtic work?
Any other knowledge of changing from a automatic to 4 speed would be appreciated.
What engine was in the Charger and what engine is in your Roadrunner? I ask because there were different flywheels for different engines depending if they were internal or external balanced and if it was external there still could be a few choices.
Also, if your car currently has a 727 trans, then you should be able to use your current driveshaft as is. If your car has a 904, a new driveshaft will have to be made or an old one of the right size found.
I am not sure on the 66 to 70 useage on parts, as I am more familiar with A-body set ups and they did differ between those years on parts it took to do it. Hopefully someone else will chime ine for you.

383 was in the Charger. 400 made to 451 stroker in my Road Runner. Have 727 in RR now.

It is internally balanced. You are correct about 4 speeds, they are a blast. Last one I had was in 70 Cuda with 383,was a lot of fun.
Anybody know about parts fitting?

Moparfan53 thank you for the great link, after reading it I am going to go ahead and get the four speed and tackle the project this winter.
Fourgear savoy you are correct I will need to weld the bracket for the z bar mount on. That is one extra part I will need to get.
Thanks to all for the input, look forward to shifting gears next spring.

The pedals are different. 66-67 b body pedals are different from 68-70. The newer pedals will work in the older cars, you just loose your drivers side defroster vent hose (won't fit). Not sure about putting older pedals in the newer car. Never done it. Your transmission cross member will not work straight away. You will have to move the mount on the cross member. Pretty easy modification. As long as the crank in your current motor can except a 4 speed bushing, all else should be good to go.

I used '66 pedals when converting my '70 Bee. Aside from welding the mount on the frame everything else was a simple bolt in. I did have to clearance the seam a tad since I used a Lakewood scattershield. Have fun.
Go ahead and spring for a new Hurst competiton plus shifter and pistol grip handle while you're at it!
