...it's an interesting carb to rebuild, lots of parts...hopefully we can make it work. We'll keep plugging away at it.

Re: Thermoquad question...disregard - 12/15/08 11:24 PM

ALL you need is a Chrysler service manual. And those reprints of the HP builds in the Mopar mags aren't bad either.

What are your issues now ?

Re: Thermoquad question...disregard - 12/15/08 11:30 PM

No issues right now, but if anything comes up that we can't figure out I'll be sure to ask you. thanks!

Re: Thermoquad question...disregard - 12/15/08 11:31 PM

It ihas been a few years since I took one apart but I recall that there are two screws that are kinda hidden. Nothing real hard about that carb but you do need to look for the bowl to be in good shape and not warped all to s***.

Re: Thermoquad question...disregard - 12/15/08 11:40 PM

Make sure you put the 2 donut shaped O-rings in the bottom of the main wells. DAMHIK.
Posted By: dOc !

Re: Thermoquad question...disregard - 12/15/08 11:41 PM

While-you-are-at-it ..... make sure you have GOOD primary O-rings and CHANGE the plastic floats to brass.

A warped center-section(bowl) ? ...only really happens(very rarely) in a high heat situation when the carb is subjected to a stuck flapper-valve in the pass side exh man.

I was hoping someone would volunteer to get the pic emailed to them to get it resized and posted. It is one I took a year or two ago for a joke.

The Tquad is almost done, we'll probably be bolting it onto the Dart today. If we need any guidance we'll let you guys know. It's my first Thermoquad so it's a learning experience for sure.

Thanks for the offer Scott, hopefully all will go well.

I just rebuilt and tuned my first Thermoquad, and I am really happy with the response the most...........so snappy, and people told me my big valved, big cammed 340 would be a dog, and it really is NOT. I love it!

Dustergal,
Glad to year the TQ is hopefully going on! There are a BUNCH of adjustments you can do to fine tune these carbs. I would recommend getting the proper adjusting tool for the air door spring, if possible. Once you get it dialed in close, you can start messing with squirter sizes, air door stop adjustments, etc... They are a VERY tuneable carb.

Somehow I have no trouble believing that...but anyone who was here in the "old" days know that if Doc Glasser is here, he's a much tamer, watered down version of himself...

Makes him harder to spot...

Gee, I wonder where that came from?
And don't let anyone try and tell you to switch to a Holley. All carbs are nothing more than fuel delivery systems. They all have their good points and their shortcommings. The thermoquad when tuned correctly will give you probably your best fuel economy and deliver explosive WOT performance. Dave

Re: Thermoquad question...disregard - 12/17/08 07:14 PM

We got it finished and slapped it on and got it running, the car fired right up and went to an idle even with the garage being 20 degrees, lol. No leaks either. It does have a bog when we open up the secondaries, but we haven't even begun to tune it yet. So far so good, I'm digging the Tquad. Wish we could take the car for a ride but alas, 4 inches of snow and salt on the roads will prevent that happening for a while.

Love the sound it makes too, very unique.
