Using Memory Foam for Back/bench Seat

Using Memory Foam for Back/bench Seat - 09/22/13 07:20 PM

Has anyone used a sheet of memory foam in reupholstering their back or bench seat cushion? Just curious. I am doing mine and I have a really nice slab of memory foam that I thought of using. I'm concerned that it will squish down and the vinyl will look terrible for an hour while it springs back up, once people get their butts off of it. It would seem that it would be REALLY comfy though.

For me a little bit firm is much more comfortable. That sounds hot and soggy.

We just reused the aftermarket replacements from Legendary.
The backseat of the 65 is more comfortable than most couches Ive sat on.
No experience to base it on but I would think the memory foam would be too soft.

I made some cushions for forklift operators with this find of foam earlier this year.
Some observations, it crushes to flat pretty easy.
Like you would need 3 or 4" (probably more) of padding before you're weight against it won't squish it flat.
Constant pressure points like your lower back area, that area of the pad will eventually stop springing back to full shape.
My experience says you probably won't be happy with it as a seat you're going to spend any time in.

They do make some killer gel padding but it was too expensive for what we were doing.

Disregard the link as to the supplier, I'm sure you can find something similar on ebay.
