98 Ram SS/T spindle question

98 Ram SS/T spindle question - 09/22/13 03:51 AM

It appears that inner race has been spinning on the spindle. There is a groove worn right into the spindle where the inner race rests. Picture is attached. Do I need to shop for new spindles? I replaced all the bearings and I've been using Amzoil grease for years. I follow shop manual wheel bearing adjustment. Any ideas why this happened? I bought this truck at 85K now has little under 120K. I repacked the bearings about 20K ago. Thanx guys.

I would replace it(or them) I have owned a '98 SST since it was almost new and haven't had that problem

Sometimes parts just wear out

Thank you for the response. To tell you the truth that's the advice I expected. Problem is that I'll have to locate a really clean used set. these are discontinued. I found one on the net at about $600. Ouch.

That's pretty steep. I can get a set for much less than that from a u-pull-it. Any 1500 Ram should be the same

Check www.car-part.com in you area for good used ones. Most salvage yards use this site. I have had really good luck with it.
