1968 dodge coronet after market air - 09/20/13 02:34 AM

I am finally getting around to putting the air back in my car, i have a 1968 dodge coronet with factory air, I want to get a after market kit and make it fit my factory air dash, is this possible? and what kit should i buy? Has anybody put aftermarket air in a factory air car?

Thanks

I'll take a shot if no else will:

Vintage Air I think makes a self contained evap/heater box that is compact and fits under most dashes but it works really well. They call it the Hurricane I believe. It is cable operated I believe so you could adapt the factory controls to work the box. The ducts are just ducts so they could be routed accordingly.

My info my not be exact but it is worth looking into. I only know this cause my brother is a Vintage Air dealer in his shop and has put in a many of them.

Classic Auto Air has been advertising they have a direct fit retro kit for 68-70 B-bodies. Look in this months Mopar Muscle, or call them. It was supposed to come out in June I believe. I need more $ to put this in, about $1500 I believe also.

I made a call to CAA and they are really great over the phone and seem to know their stuff. They will customize their retrofit system to work with whatever you've got. I'm restoring my air box and everything under dash and using their stuff from the firewall to the radiator once I get there.

i thought about doing that as well, however, i really wanted to get away from the vacuum controls and i was told that the new compressor does not do well with the old air box. I like the new air box without all those vacuum lines.

Thanks
