Hood / Shaker clearance

Hood / Shaker clearance - 09/12/13 02:45 AM

My Cuda is running a 440 with a street dominator and holley 750 and I am having clearance issues with the bubble. Hood will not close.

Is there anyone else running this setup? I think the manifold is too tall.

Appreciate any suggestions.

Do like every stocker and super stocker in IHRA and NHRA and shim the K frame down for hood clearance. I run a SD on my 440 GTX with a 1 inch wood spacer under the stock air grabber hood. I also run a W=2 tunnel ram on my T/A under the stock scoop. Re alignment will probably be required. Oh yeah I used 3/8 aluminum plates. Anything thicker and you will need to get some longer grade 5 or better bolts. I've seen 1/2 inch done.

I have the tall Indy intake and Dominator under my Shaker.

I got an after market Shaker base and put a drop base in it and shimmed the K down. Then I had to mill 1/2" off the intake. But it fits just fine.

I also ended up dropping the tranny tail down the same amount as the K to keep the front joint out of bind.

Fabbing in a drop base alone may be enough for your combo.

something else is wrong. I has a Dommy under my Shaker and had to use an 1" phenolic spacer between the carb and intake to get the shaker bubble to come up to the right height

Something wrong?!?!? That Indy intake is TALL.

Which intake do you have that took a 1" spacer and still fit under the Shaker with the Dominator carb? And you didn't lower the Shaker base when you modified it for the larger Dominator throat?

We have got to be talking different combos here.
