Door Jamb Switch Wiring - 09/10/13 03:12 AM
My door jamb switch on my 70 Challenger (pass side) broke. It has two tabs on it and is connected by a yellow and yellow w/ black tracer wires. The replacement is made to only accept one wire. Am I missing something here? Does one just go to ground? One wire is constant hot and the other is dead (can't remember which right now). Schematic only shows one wire so why would there be two? I don't believe this wiring was ever altered but you know how that goes...
Thanks!

I think you might have the wrong switch. Chrysler parts book lists a 2 terminal for a '70 Challenger, part# 2889084 (same # for both sides). I think that crosses to a Standard part# DS240.
Aftermarket;
http://www.amazon.com/Standard-Motor-Products-DS240-Switch/dp/B000C7ZDJEhttp://www.summitracing.com/search/make/...hrysler-2889084 Or NOS if $$ is not a problem
http://www.ebay.com/itm/NOS-Mopar-1970-7...27b&vxp=mtr I recall hearing that the second wire is connected to the key buzzer but cannot say for sure.

With the A01 light package, there is a dual switch on the drivers' side. Never saw two on the passenger side. But never say never.
Maybe it is an anti theft alarm or some other after market add on. Yellow and yellow with a tracer is a Mopar light color code.
I bought a supposed replacement on ebay that was the wrong switch. Instead of grounding both of the wires like it was supposed to, it just hooked the two wires together with no ground. Drove me crazy for a while trying to figure out why the lights for the headlight switch and the iginition key did not work.

Thanks guys! I definitely want the right switch so I'll be ordering the 2-post.
I should have stopped by here first before going to Autozoo...
