Two wire vintage tach installation help - 09/10/13 01:33 AM

I just picked up this vintage Dixco tach. It has only two wires. I was reading that one wire goes to power for light and the other to the negative side of the coil-and that it grounds on the mounting.
I have also read conflicting stuff about whether it will work with electronic ignition-is this true?
anyone have any experience installing these?
I love the look of the tach and would like to use it.

I am puzzled as they normally have at least three wires. Have you taken the back off ??? A pic of the tach with the cup removed may help

Most require a sender.I have an old SW tach thats the 2 wire setup. It needs a sender to work.IIRC some of the senders also have a battery inside. Its been at least 30 years since Ive played with one.Rocky

alot of tachs use two wires- no light in them.
tach goes between coil and points/ecu. maybe a in-out wires setup.
