What oil pan for a Magnum 318 going in an Abody - 08/27/13 05:09 AM
What oil pan is everyone using on the 318 & 360 Magnums that they are putting in A, B, and E bodies. The Magnum truck pan won't work and my 340 pan is not close on the rear seal. I was told a 360 from a non magnum will work but don't have one to try. Thanks for the help.

I was told that the Magnum engines, both the 5.2 and 5.9 used the same pan. The LA 360 pan has a smaller rear seal than the 273/318/340 engines.

The LA 360 has a larger rear seal than 273-318-340.

I agree, use the 360 la pan for your car.
mp still sold them new for around 110 with the pickup. or they did when I did my swap a couple years back.
saw them as cheap as 80 bucks on sale.
I tried the magnum gasket, but it was too think. oil leaked out the front and back seals.
so I re did it with the la pan gasket.
there is supposed to be a single gasket replacment for la pan's now, but don't remember actually seeing one.
there was also a guy that reshaped his la pan to use the mag gasket, and someone else that sectioned of the mag pan and welded it onto the la pan so he could use the mag gasket.

Just use the doggone 360 pan, already!
