1969 Barracuda dash paint color? - 08/21/13 11:25 PM
My 69 barracuda has a tan interior and the metal parts of the dash are also painted tan. (DO NOT KNOW ACTUAL TERM FOR THE METAL OF THE DASH)Is dash color supposed to match the interior or should it be body color? I am wanting to convert to a black interior and wondering if I should paint the metal black or body color. Thanks!

I have also noticed in a lot of photo's that the insides of the cars with black interiors are painted black regardless of body color?

Dash should match the color of the interior unless it is two tone lik.e green and white, the dash would be green

This is covered in the FSM, pages 23-152, -153. Your 69 Barracuda should have maybe two or more different colors in three different glosses, like this list. Black interiors used Black Velvet and Jewel Black colors.
Interior Gloss Finish Colors with exterior paint. Used on:
a. Integral Door Upper and Lower Garnish
b. Quarter Panel Lower Garnish
Interior Gloss Finish Colors not with exterior paint. Used on:
a. Quarter Panel Upper Garnish Molding
Interior Low Gloss Finish Colors. Used on:
a. Console
Interior Suede Finish Colors. Used on:
a. Instrument Panel, Glove Box Door, Ash Receiver
b. Steering Column Assembly
c. Floor Pan*
d. Trunk Pan, Trunk Interior Sides*.
This list is for a 69 notchback. Fastbacks and convertibles are different.
*Not mentioned in the FSM, but correct for my car, as best I can tell.
