leaf spring measurements - 08/20/13 04:56 AM

I have a 69 Coronet. My chassis guy installed a pair of 3" inboard spring mounts.

The car is not finished. It's a rolling shell, so it's light. The leaf springs which are pretty arched with no load. My rear hangers are pushed back so far they touch the frame.

I suspect the rear tubes for the swing shackles were drilled too far forward. They are about 2.5" forward of the factory ones. The holes in the front hanger are 52.5" away. Is this correct or should the be dead even with the factory holes?

They should be drilled even with the old holes.Frt segment on those is 22 inches stock.SS springs are 20 inch if they are installed. The rear segment is the same length for both.SS springs you need hangers and frt holes would be drilled back 2 inches from stock but rear holes would be the same location as stock.Rocky

Depends on where the front mount is. If it was moved forward then the rear needs moved too.

Got some pic of the front holes. They are 5.5" back from the mounting area of of the original hanger.
