what do you look for in a small block serpentine kit? - 08/19/13 05:54 PM

we just got finished designing and machining our big block kits, there are 4 in total:

1. a/c, alternator, power steering, spring tensioner
2. alternator only, spring tensioner
3. alternator and power steering, spring tensioner
4. low mount ac, power steering, alternator, spring tensioner

the kits will soon be up on our website and i've been posting them here as well.

now i am looking to expand into the small block kits as well as new hemi kits and am curious what people are looking for. all the kits will be made using cnc machined aluminum brackets, and we will offer pulleys as an add on. any and all input is welcome even its hey the market is covered move on.

I WOULD like a kit with p/s, and a/c.. and a kit with only a wp and alt, something that will work with both LA headed and magnum headed engines would be great.. esp if the kit will fit both engines, AND did not cost a million bucks, maybe something that can use junk yard mag pulleys using custom brackets that will bolt up the ps,a/c and wp using the LA cover on the LA headed engines.. just a thought

I would like to see something to replace the small block setup with factory a/c and p/s say early to mid seventies weather La or mag head and of course as stated above not cost a fortune.

A kit with a/c mounted low would be great.

If I was in the market for a serpentine system, I prefer simple solutions over the stylized billet winged/tribal tattoo stuff. Fewer parts, light weight, and elegantly simple solutions rather than stylized. Unobtrusive rather than a complex focal point decoration. But I might not be your audience, and bling may outsell what I'm talking about.
If I were designing a system, I would try to do it in a modular fashion, so guys could add what they need, like AC & PS that others may not want, and maybe design a top-mount & low-mount variation.
Unfortunately, you'll get guys who think it should cost $9.95. To survive, you almost have to make one for SBC & SBF so there's enough volume. Then you gotta give one to HotRod & whatever other magazine that will spread the word.

well our current offering for big blocks, uses magnum serpentine pulleys. we plan on using these as a base and then have a billet option for those who want some more eye candy. on our big block kits we offer black anodizing for a more stealthy look.

I think our brackets are fairly unobtrusive and don't give off the flying wing vibe like others on the market. our big block kit is fairly modular so if you want to start with a base kit you can upgrade to a/c and a power steering pump option later. so ultimately we can customize what you get. the accessories we use come off a magnum truck and the same ones will most likely be carried onto the small block version. the alternator we use is 120 amp and is controlled by a stock voltage regulator. we use a ligther weight sanden ac compressor, the magnum one will mount up high and an aftermarket 508 will be used in the low mount. the power steering pump is a late model unit off a jeep grand Cherokee.

right now I need to sort out the water pump issue. as far as I know the la and magnum use different pump and they are not interchangeable without swapping the timing chain cover.

also affordability gets mentioned a lot and I guess I didn't address that more. can someone put a number on it?
