anyone built up their own heads from procomp castings? - 08/02/13 05:59 PM

Still thinking about all of the possibilities for an upcoming street 360 build. From what I have read the design and casting on the new procomp small block heads are pretty good, but the assembled package is crap.

Since I am wanting to learn more about heads and maybe some light work like gasket matching and polishing, I was wondering if anyone here has bought bare heads and put in quality parts.

Would anyone know what kind of valves they are set up for standard LA or W2? Are the spring seats set up for standard mopar springs with locator cups or do they need a lot of work there? How is the rocker shaft pedestal placement. Does a standard rocker arm setup align pretty well or more work there too?

No Procomp info but I bought a set of Promax (iirc) bare mag EQ heads many years ago & my head guy used chebby valves on either the in or the ex I forgot which. They're legal on my circle burner class now so that's where they're going (next year). I can hardly wait as prior with the 308 heads when it got up on the Hughes cam it scared me. here's a BTT for ya

if they are based on the eddy head...then valves will be 11/32 stem and 5.011 length...
