Strange lighting problem - 07/28/13 07:04 PM
My 68 Super bee has a strange lighting problem. When you turn on the head lights to parking position all the side markers light up. When you turn the head lights on the front side markers go out. Car has all new wiring harness under hood and new head light harness. No cut or spliced wires. All plugs are pluged in. Is there any difference between 68 and 69 head light switch? I didn't build this car i bought it done. The wire harness are aftermarket but i don't know what brand.

You are losing or missing a ground.

Where? Side markers are grounded to fender and do light up in park position. Go out with headlights

Yes i lose power at front side markers when headlights come on. All the other parking lights work fine.

Sounds like something might be wrong with your new harness. On a '68, the side markers should all come on in either headlight switch position. However, the parking lights in the front bumper will ONLY illuminate in the "Park" position. The parking lights turn off when the headlights are turned on.

They also could be switched at the bulkhead. Terminals U and Z need to be verified on both sides of the bulkhead. The Park should be black with a yellow tracer terminal location U. Side marker is dark green with a tracer terminal location Z.

Thanks. I'll check the bulk head conector and see if new harness is correct.
