When im driving the thing is just whinning like crazy

I thought I had a loose wire on the alt

< but no luck any Ideas??

Bearing going bad. Take it off and have it bench tested.

I noticed when one phase of the alternator quit, there are three, it would produce a whine. As was suggested, have it tested.

Yes...if one of the rectifiers goes sour, the alternator usually starts whining. Used to be able to buy rectifier packs, but I think those days are long gone.
