What would casue a new battery to go totally dead? I checked for draw on the battery with everything off and it was within normal .04 amps.

If the car has a .04 amp draw with the battery cable disconnected and the amp meter hooked up between the battery and the battery cable and everything is turned off in the car then something is probally not turned off Look at the trunk light and glove box switches If the bulbs are hot when you first look and touch them then there probally not going out

I checked those too. The car has sit for about 3 to 4 weeks while I was on business trips, but I would think the battery should still be some what charged after that amount of time.

Next time pull a cable & see if it stays up or not after the 3 or 4 weeks (starting out fully charged I'm assuming). That'd tell you if it's a draw issue or a batt itself problem

"new" car, or old?

newer cars are hard pressed to sit more than 2 weeks without them having issues on battery charge.

If its a newer car they will drain the battery.Left for that period of time its not unusual to be dead.Had an old guy with a Caddy that we put a 1000 amp Battery in.He came back saying it was bad.I charged it and checked it twice. It was good.Replaced it anyway. He was back again with the same thing.Battery was also good. Then he tells me that the car sits for weeks. My fix was a quick disconnect. He didnt want to spend the $$$$ for a battery tender. No more problems after that.Rocky
