Sunroof lubrication - 07/02/13 03:26 PM

The sunroof in my 5th Avenue "stutters" when I open and close it. Lubrication issue? If so, whats the best way to do it? My shop manual is no help, and I doubt its ever been lubed since it left ASC (company that did the conversion for Chrysler). Thanks.

Try a little bit of white lithium grease on the moving parts . . . see how that goes . . .

Just my two cents . . .

PS - I have a 74 Duster360 with factory sunroof, and used that on the moving parts, seemed smoother to me. And this is a manual roof, not an electric powered one.

Cheers

If it was me, I'd try one of the 'synthetics'...

A little goes a long way...

Doesn't react to temp...

Lube up any moving or rubbing parts.. I did this to my Merkur sunroof and was amazed at the difference

I'll tear into it today and see what I can do. I do have plenty of grease and synthetic spray around. Thanks.

Well, I removed the cable covers yesterday and found they where stretched, so I lifted them up and re-engaged them in the drive gear, lubed them up with white lithium grease and put them back into the cable guides. Works like its supposed to now! Thanks again for the help guys!
