727 clutch kit's - 07/02/13 12:24 AM

ok so I have to install a clutch kit an steele's in my 727, my question is want's a good yet cheap 1 to go with?? I heard that the ATC Pro King kit is pretty good an the ATP Automatic Transmission Master Repair kit from summit racing is good. I don't need a whole kit just the clutch's an steele's but I think ya can only buy a whole kit right?? I got about $80.00 to spend (budget build) if ya got some other brand's or link's please let me know thank's

take the clutch pac apart and count them...

and get a digital caliper on the disc to measure thickness..

If your pulling the trans apart, replace the seals too. There are usually some good deals on E-Bay with kits that include the pump and output bushings, bands and different grades of clutch/steels.

bulkpart.com has good prices too, but I have had them mess up some orders in the past.

We can't see what transmission you actually have from where most of us sit so that request is pretty much impossible.

order a full rebuild kit from John Cope at CRT.

runs about 90$ for a full rebuild kit with clutches and steels.

That's usually a decent start and basically the same thing that everyone else tends to sell.

you might be able to save a few bucks buying from one of those bulk distribution centers but for the money you save(whitch aint much)your still left on your own.buy from John Cope and you not only get the RIGHT parts but he,s always very eager to answer any ?,s you have during your rebuild, that alone is pricless.

no front band..no bushing..no thrust washers...

add those to the cost ...

transtar kit comes with front band..thrust washers..and pump, drum, and tail shaft bushing.

if i had that trans apart i would rebuild it...if the clutch disc need replacement ..probably all the sealing rings are shot...

727 is a pretty simple trans to rebuild..

I forgot about the black magic required to build a 904 or 727.
