Matching MP rocker arms for W2 Econo 995 heads? - 06/23/13 04:52 PM

Folks...I picked up a set of new in the box W2 Econo heads a couple of years ago, these are the P4529995 MP part number.

My intended use for these is to replace the heavily ported '596 OEM castings on my 360 motor, probably the next build will be a stroker motor anyways, so slightly bigger cubes. This is a weekend driver/project car, not a drag racing vehicle, so the cam lift will never get beyond the .650 I'm thinking.

A set of MP rocker arms (P4876343) has come up locally for sale. Given that my W2 castings are the Long Valve versions, are there any specific MP rocker arms that need to be used in this application? Or will the P4876343 work?

The DCF-173 Instruction Sheet (see attachement) supplied with my W2 Econos references an older MP rocker arm number...so I have no idea if this is a workable combination or not. Given that both parts have been out of distribution chain for a few years now there is no information out there that I can find either.

Guys...no body? C'mon...throw me a bone here...

OK, how about this (my thinking at the moment): in theory, the longer valve should not require anything special on these heads since the rocker shaft pedestals are already cast somewhat higher then a comparable stock head location pedestals. Therefore, the standard W2 econo head rocker arm should be fine.

Makes sense? Or what am I missing?

yes...

only difference in heads is the height of the pedestal which as you see takes the longer valves...you can see that the same part numbers for rocker arms are listed for both heads.

harland sharpe makes a complete kit for the econos...or crane make w2 rockers that can be used on the econo...they dont sell the complete kit just individual rockers...

Yup, makes sense...my concerns was that the MP rocker arms I'm looking at are a different part number then what's shown in the head instruction sheets, so I simply wasn't sure if the logic applicable to these older numbers would still hold true. I'm thinking it should though.

Thanks for the info!

on the intake rockers..look at the offset..

W2 rockers take .775 offset intake rockers...both econo and race heads use the same rocker.
