When you pull the drive out make sure you didn't twist the tip off of the shaft.

Dist. and bronze gear out,now just want to make sure my oil pump is working. Brand new motor with maybe 5 miles on it doesn't have oil pressure. I found a BIG problem, on drivers side,a rocker adjuster broke and on pass side, a rocker adjuster nut came off and both are in my motor. Will be taking the intake off next week.

If it spit a lifter out of it's bore in the process, that's where your oil pressure might have went.

Its a 360. I must have shut it off right in time because it didn't make any loud noises and sounded ok.

Ok guys......just went out to prime the motor to see what happens. The oil pressure kept going up and down. It jumped to 20 and then stayed at 10. The pass side had oil coming out of the head but none out of the drivers side.
The drivers side has the broken adjuster and the pass side has the missing adjuster nut.

Re: STUPID QUESTION - 06/23/13 02:56 AM
Drill priming or even hand priming will kick up far in excess of the 10lbs you are showing. Either a lifter is out of its' bore or a gallery plug is missing or there's an issue on the suction side (pickup/pump regulator)

Re: STUPID QUESTION - 06/23/13 03:26 AM
The lifter popped out when the push rod dropped off. Don't try running it until you find the problem. NO OIL PRESSURE means NO OIL !!!!!!!!

Re: STUPID QUESTION - 06/23/13 03:38 AM
Oh,I'm NOT running it!!!!!! I find it hard to believe that a roller lifter that is connected to another roller lifter can come out of the bore. Unless the bar broke.

Didn't know it was roller lifters. Mike, holler what it ends up being

Re: STUPID QUESTION - 06/23/13 04:09 AM
I kicked a roller lifter out last year and it stayed up above the oil hole (bar bent a bit) and had 0 oil pressure so it can happen!

Re: STUPID QUESTION - 06/23/13 04:27 AM
I have run in to a a case where I lost all oil pressure suddenly on [forgive me ] a 355 chev. racing engine . during a qualifiying lap it dropped from 70 lbs to 0 . i came in and we checked it over .it would go up and down when reved to only about 10 lbs... turned out to be an imploaded oil filter . happened several times . I had to use an Oberg screen system and not over a 20-50 race oil to control it .

Will do Robert. Dodge,Were you racing it or driving your car when it happened??? My duster was idling in the garage. Not saying it couldnt happen idling but sounds weird if it did. Im wondering now if the broken rocker adjuster could have cause the lifter bar to bend or break???
