70 B body PDB problem. - 06/19/13 04:08 PM

OK, I am FINALLY attempting to get my car on the road after nine years, two wheelbarrows full of cash and one "Christine" incident where the car tried to kill me.

It seems that the front brakes are locking on. As soon as I start the engine and the booster gets vaccuum, the front brakes are on even without touching the pedal. Car off; wheels turn just fine. I took the master off and started the car and the booster pushrod moves about 1/8" as soon as you start the engine...my buddy tells me that isn't supposed to happen and that makes sense to me....any other theories or possibilities?

Full disclosure: I bought the car with no brake linkage, no booster and no master cylinder so the wrong parts are definitely a possibility. The master cyl appears correct so if it's the culprit, it's probably a bad rebuild....the booster wasn't rebuilt.

any comments are appreciated. This car is the ultimate test of my patience!

there is an internal valve in the booster.
had one go bad on me, and while driving it slowly applied the brakes till they were full on.

didn't realize it, till I found I had my foot on the floor with the gas and barely doing the speed limit.

smoked the fronts.

so yeah, bad booster.

Thanks; makes sense. wondered why the car was constantly spinning the rear tires!
