Exhaust Manifold studs/nuts in a jam... - 06/15/13 07:13 PM

Anyone know the part numbers from NAPA or soemthing ? I cannot find them anywhere. Not even aftermarket from Summit or ARP.
Three of my Studs have long sleeved nuts. The studs are stuck in the nuts and came out with the nuts.
I'm sitting here debating wether to try and get them apart or just put them back in but then I won't know if I got enough torque against the gasket...

Run them back in.
The threads will tighten against the block. It will pull hard enough on the gasket.

BTW... when originally built many of our engines did not have exhaust manifold gaskets. If you've had exhaust leaks you should take the manifolds to a machine shop and have them decked like you would a cylinder hear. Only take enough off to make the surface flat.
That should end any problems with leaks.

Year One has new studs and sleeve nuts.. The dealer has them if you have a goods parts clown..

I have used the studs available at a hardware store like Ace or True Value

I'll post a pic later but I was able to separate them with alot of patience and a little help from Mr. Rosebud Torch...
All back together with no leaks.
