A518 (Diesel) 2-Pin Connector Wiring - 06/12/13 03:27 PM

I'm just swapping a A518 Diesel (with SB Ultra Bell & 6000RPM Governor) in my 1979 D150 Truck! It has the 2-Pin Connector to activate the overdrive. How shall i wire it? I just find infos for the three pin connector...

One pin to ground, the other to a switched plus.
If you want to do it 'nice' you can buy adjustable pressure and vacuum switches and let engine-vacuum and car-speed decide when to go into overdrive.

I myself have a simple switch on the console which I flick over when it's time for overdrive in my Dodge Dart.

Wann us the flip version by hand like you! On which side power and ground doesn't count?

I believe it didn't matter which side ground or power. It just an electric coil inside.

Your swap is not clear to me, are you using a diesel 518 with a gas or diesel motor? And why the Ultra bell, and why a 6000 rpm converter? Its not a lock-up style?

I own a 518 diesel tranny that I will one day drop into a small block street car, and your solutions are not what i expected.

The way I read it is thus: The small block ultra bell tells us that he is putting it behind a gas motor. 6000 RPM governor, not converter. The governor controls the shift RPM. A518's use a non-lockup converter. I hope this helps, Joel
