Vibration problem...need help! - 05/11/13 11:02 PM

Ok guys heres the problem im having. Noticed today my Coronet has a vibration to it. It seems to do it only in park. It runs great and sounds great but if you let it idle in park right out of the blue you can feel a vibration inthe floorboards. Plus if you watch the oil pressure gauge as soon as it starts vibrating the oil pressure drops a couple of pounds.
I ran the car 2 weeks ago and it ran 12.0s all day which is what it runs. And it still runs great. Theres no idication from the sound of the motor that its a motor problem. I checked all the plug wires to make sure there wasnt a bad one and it was miss firing but everything lookd great. Im wondering if its not transmission? The last time i ran it last year i had a ujoint take a crap and i had to drive it home from the track. Im wondering if it tore something up? Any ideas guys?.....Joe

check the trans and motor mounts, for a torn isolator, or broken bolt?

Ok, before you start tearing stuff apart,...just check the firing order, confirm the correct wires on the correct plugs and terminals,...seen this before, misfire masked as a vibration issue at idle, fine when you get on it,(so it seems) but crappy at idle or low speed cruise...

monitor oil pressure ..does it go up/down slightly with on/off the gas modulation? if so you have a rod/main brg about to go on you... mine dropped like 3-4 psi bumping he throttle on/off.. rod bearing died soon after..

Got it up on all 4s and checked everything. Everything was normal and found nothing out of wack. Didnt seem to do it today but i didnt drive it either. And the oil pressure seems fine. No different since the day i built it 10 years ago. Not sure what to make of it i guess ill just monitor it and see what happens..thanks guys..Joe
