My NEW Denso alt is POOCHED!! - 04/26/13 08:10 PM

Heres the history, I bought the Denso from one of the members on here, not that that matters and paid a good buck for it. I get it installed and 50 miles later the diodes are pooched! DOH! ok replaced it for $40 bux and its fine for the next forty miles when it showed a spike in the voltage to 14 volts and then back to 10.5 hummmmm? I take it to the eletric guru and the rotor is shorting out??????? WHAT??????
OMG? WHY? Call me dumb but I cant figure it out. This thing is costing a friggin bundle.
Any ideas why or how this is happening?

i picked a reman denso unit up for a late 80's mopar on ebay for $50-$60. I say cut your losses.

Read this and then try to find the 87/89 only alternator.

They used a version of that on the FWD cars, I threw them away by the bucket. Should be able to get parts fairly easy.

Mine is very similar. Out of a 1990 B-Series Dodge Van. Same mounting, ect. & supposed to be 120 amps.
