BFGoodrich P275/50R15 replacements??

BFGoodrich P275/50R15 replacements?? - 11/30/08 06:08 PM

I need to get replacements for my 275/50R-15 tires but BFGoodrich dosen't make them any more
I could get 295/50R-15's but I think they will rub on my fender lip so I am stuck with 275/60R-15's

anybody else have recommendations before I get them?
oh yeah gonna check what year they were made too!

We all run 275-60 on the back of our b-body,and e bodies.

There is a Cooper 275-265-/50/15 RWL tire that owns the wrap.

60's don't have that hi-po , in the [Edited by Moparts - Keep it clean], look.

Check tirerack.com and discounttiredirect.com. You wont have alot of choices in that size but anything will be an improvement.

I am using the exact same 295 on my 68 Dart with no issues (been mini tubed).

I put BF goodrich 295 50R 15's on my 66 Charger
with 15X8 Weld wheels with a 4 1/2 back space.
fit with no problem.

A 295/50r15 will fit on a rim which has a 265/50r15 ? Reguardless of car mini tubing..

Contact Coker Tire. You might be surprised that they have or have access to get the BFG P275 / 50R / 15 tires that you want.

I was looking for two ( 2 ) BFG 285 / 70R / 15 Radial TA tires for the rear of my Plymouth. I even called the BFG Factory Marketing Dept. and was told they stopped manufacturing this particular tire in December, 2006. Well, I happened upon the Coker Tire folks at the Springfield, OH Cars and Parts Swap Meet in the Spring of 2007, so I asked if this particular tire was still in their inventory and the answer was yes. Now, I am not guaranteeing that Coker still has the BFG 275 / 50R / 15, but, based upon my experiences, it would certainly be worth a phone call or an e-mail.

I got my 275/60R-15's mounted and to be honest they look awful, too tall and narrow

I wanted to mount my old tires back on but didn't because they were 16 years old, cracking and a safety hazard
I called to see if 295/50R-15's were available becasue I would have bought those too but they are on galactic backorder and learned that 50 series tire on 15" rims are being phased out

sucks but oh well
just gotta save up till I get 315/35-17 for the rear

I saw the 285/70 BFG's on the Coker website earlier this month, but they were something like $220 a piece! (Albeit a whitewall.)

I know this size tire is real popular with the street rod guys, but we also run them on the back of our '64 Savoy. I hope they can do a run of blackwalls for a more reasonable price.

I have 275-60-15's on 10" wide wheels on my pickup and they look kinda small. If you mount them on an 8 or 8.5 rim the sidewalls start to bulge out a lot more and they look a lot better.

My brother has a set of 275's on 7" wide buick rallye wheels. Looks awesome, but the tire wears poorly since the rim is really too narrow for that wide of a tire.

I need new tires for my truck and would like something wider than the 275's. The only thing available is the 295-50's and they are a lot shorter which is going to raise my cruising rpm up and kill some mpg in the process.

What backspacing you using.

Also is this the stock rear suspension or moved in leaf etc..

Stone stock rear suspension setup, except I added a factory swaybar and flipped the front spring hangers to lower it a little.

I don't have a clue what the B/S is, though. I'll try to measure tonight.

295/50/15's : rubbing around hard, hard cornering. 15X10 5.5 backspace. i would try to get less of a backspacing though. very close to the leaf springs.

I was ready to buy 295/50R-15's on the spot and keep the 275/60R-15's as spares or sell them but the problem is they just aren't making them anymore. I guess they are phasing out 50 series tires because 60 series provide better fuel economy since I have noticed less RPM's at crusing speed. 60 series tires still suck and will never buy them again

oh well I guess I just gotta do more burn outs so that my tires will sit shorter

Too tall??? My 275/60's only measure 27" in diameter. If that's too tall for you, maybe you should pick up some donut spares from the junkyard and run those. I agree they are too narrow. Don't have that ballsy look to them.

I've ran that size on 7" rims for 5 years on the same set of tires and they've been wearing just as flat and level as any other tire...

Nitto makes 275/50/15 in a drag radial and would hook much better than any BFG Radial T/A ever did.

Can I have your wheels and tires?

Seriously thogh do they rub on the leaf springs and if you change the back spacing are you confident that they won't rub on the quater lip?

I have had very goodluck with this brand, They last forever, don't dry rot and are actual size. not that smaller size some tire brands sell. That actually is a really good question. I really don't think they would, but I will check in two weeks when i get home. I'm away at college right now. the fronts are 14x6 i believe but i don't know the tire size. i love how it all looks on my car. stance is awesome

68-70 Dodge B-bodies have different leaf to quarter panel distances than the 68-70 Plymouths.

You guys checked out the latest Street Radial tires from Mickey Thompson? I put some on my van's 18" wheels but they offer several "sensible" sizes for 15" wheels too. Here's a link:

a 275/50R15 would be a 26" tall tire, about 11" wide. so a 26" x 10" or x 12" on a 15" wheels would work in Mickey T's. The tread pattern looks great too! Good luck

Yes Charger and Coronets have more room. The Plymouths are more slab sided. Really apparent if you look at a bare 68-70 Charger door compare to a 68-70 Plymouth Door.

That's what I was thinking. The M/Ts have a better tread pattern and compound compared to a TA and they have a higher speed rating too.

the old 275/50's used to be wide enough to fill out the rim
now there is a big gap
I should get my Nitto Drag Radials either tommorrow or next week
