3.0 stratus idles high mechanic adjusted it how can I - 11/30/08 02:26 AM

I'm helping a neighbor girl that bought a 02 Stratus with a 3.0 and the used car dealer she bought the car from adjusted the idle on the car higher to stop the car from stalling. So, me and another neighbor took the car and cleaned the throttle body & ISC or (IAC) and now the car runs good and doesn't stall, but I don't know what the mechanic used to adjust the idle. I did see a screw on the top of the throttle body, but I didn't want to start turning stuff. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for your help you guys have always been a huge help.

There is no idle speed adjustment. It is controled by the idle speed motor.Go back and ask him what he changed.Usually the adjusting screw you are refering to has something to do with throttle pressure.

I know what your saying about taking it back, but I don't want to send her back to someone who didn't fix it properly. Is there a adjustment screw near the area of the throttle cable connects? I didn't see anything when we had the throttle body off, but I wasn't looking closely I just wanted to get the car to stop the stalling. Any other suggestions?

Does anyone know if the mechanic could have set the idle high with a scan tool?
